1. Which cookies we use
mijnpas.app always sets one functional cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, which remembers whether you last viewed the site in Dutch or English. In addition, only if you consent via the cookie notice, we use Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga and ga*) to collect anonymised visit statistics, such as visitor counts, pages visited, and traffic sources. Our CDN and security provider, Cloudflare, may also briefly set a security cookie (cf_clearance), but only when traffic looks suspicious.
2. How we ask for consent
NEXT_LOCALE is a purely functional cookie strictly necessary for a feature you requested yourself (remembering your language preference), so under the ePrivacy Directive and Dutch telecommunications law it is exempt from the cookie-consent requirement. Google Analytics is not - it's an analytics cookie, not a strictly necessary one. That's why we show a cookie notice on your first visit with an 'Accept' or 'Reject' choice. Google Analytics only loads after you choose 'Accept'. If you choose 'Reject', Google Analytics is never loaded and no analytics cookies are set.
3. Security cookie (Cloudflare)
We use Cloudflare as our CDN and security provider to keep this website fast and secure. Cloudflare always processes connection data such as your IP address for this purpose, but normally sets no cookie at all. Only when Cloudflare detects suspicious or unusual traffic (for example during an attack or unusual bot activity) may it briefly show a security check, which sets the cf_clearance cookie. This cookie is strictly necessary for security - like NEXT_LOCALE, it requires no consent, and is never used for tracking or advertising.
4. What we do not use
Beyond the functional NEXT_LOCALE cookie, the Cloudflare security cookie, and, with your consent, Google Analytics, this website does not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or any other third-party tracking script. Google Analytics data is never used for advertising purposes and never linked to your email address or account data. The Flutter app's own use of Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics is described separately in our Privacy Policy and is unrelated to this website.
5. Managing cookies
You can clear or block any cookie on this site (NEXT_LOCALE, the Cloudflare security cookie if present, and, if accepted, Google Analytics) at any time through your browser settings. If you clear this site's cookie data, the cookie notice reappears on your next visit so you can revisit your choice.
